Dental Bridges in Edmonton

Can't flash your best smile? Our family dentists at Apple Dental Care provides its Edmonton patients dental bridges to restore the form, function and aesthetic look of their smile.

What happens to my mouth when I lose a tooth or multiple teeth?

When you lose a tooth, it forms a gap in your dental structure. This gap can cause surrounding teeth to encroach, shift or rotate into the empty space left behind by the missing tooth. This can lead to difficulty in biting and chewing. What's more, the appearance of your smile is also negatively affected.

What are dental bridges?

At Apple Dental Care, we provide our patients with dental bridges as a restorative treatment. A bridge is a restoration treatment designed to replace one or more missing teeth.

A bridge is made up of two crowns, one on each tooth on either side of the gap (these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth) and false teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics. Dental bridges can be supported by either natural teeth or dental implants. We  offer tooth coloured strong bridges made of zirconium.

Dental Bridges in Edmonton: The Process at Apple Dental Care

Step 1: When you first visit Apple Dental Care, the dentist will assess appropriate treatment. We explain the treatment procedure to you because we understand that each patient has different dental needs.

Step 2: We prepare the abutment teeth. After this, we take a Digital impression of your teeth. When this is completed, we will fit in a temporary bridge to protect your exposed gums and teeth while the bridge is being made.

Step 3: Once the bridge is created, we will call you in for your second visit. During this visit, the temporary bridge will be removed and the permanent one will be inserted.

Dental Bridges in Edmonton: The Benefits

Dental bridges are designed to:

  • Restore and improve your smile.
  • Restore your ability to properly chew and speak.
  • Maintain the shape of your face.
  • Replace missing teeth and promote proper bite.
  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position.

How do I take care of my dental bridge?

Bridges require special care to maintain including:

  • Normal flossing will not reach underneath your bridges, we suggest a floss threader.
  • We also strongly recommend a waterflosser for optimal bridge care.
